Retail & E-commerce
Do you know exactly how much stock you have right now?
A customer buys a product on the website. At the same time, that same product sells in the physical store. Nobody notices right away, because inventory control lives in a spreadsheet updated "whenever there's time." Result: a sale gets cancelled, the customer is unhappy, and someone on the team spends the afternoon reconciling numbers that should have been right from the start.
This kind of rework is expensive, but it's quiet, it doesn't show up as a "crisis," just as constant wear that nobody stops to add up. Until the day someone finally calculates what it cost over the year.
The problem is rarely a lack of effort from the team, it's the lack of a system that automatically syncs what happens across each sales channel. Fixing this once costs less than it seems, and far less than continuing to pay for that rework every month.
